Good morning everyone. Am about to embark on a series of Colour lectures starting tomorrow so will be in and out of the office – so thought I would share with you the work of an artist who inspired me to stitch the sacred kingfisher you see on the home page of my website. www.trishburr.co.za. This is the Sacred Kingfisher by Christopher Pope of Australia. Christopher kindly allowed me to reproduce his painting in embroidery and the project instructions will be available in the new Colour Book which we hope to see released in September this year. I have been working hard, together with the editor and designer, to complete the final edits and pleased to say it promises to be everything I hoped for! You can see his original painting here:

Christopher Pope has a rare talent for painting bird life unlike any other I have seen. His work is exquisite to say the least and I am find myself oohing and aahing over his pictures and the prospect or rather the challenge of trying to do justice to another piece of his superb art (if he will allow!) Whow he makes the Australian birds look interesting—which I always thought a bit dull after the african birds. His work is beautiful and I loved the green frog—something so different. Comparisons are odious but your sacred king fisher is exceptional. Interesting well done . LOL Mum

What beautiful birds and will look forward to seeing the next one you do in emnbroidery!!! Had an email from Coleen saying you were going to be at Nimble Fingers (I think that was it!) in Durban and wonderwed if I would like to pop over for your class!! – if only I said! My Belgian visitors have just left so perhaps now I can get back to my course work – can’t wait to get a bit of peace and time for me to get going again after this hectic spell. Do enjoy your travels and those lucky ones who are able to attend – maybe one day!
