Happenings in 2018

Hello everyone

I thought I should let you know what is happening in the next few months so if I go off the radar for a bit you know where I am and what I am doing!

In the next few weeks you will see a few new embroidery patterns coming into the shop, after that it will go quiet  – there will be no new patterns for a while, although current patterns and supplies for both online shops will remain open and shipping will continue as normal.

Forthcoming Needlepainting Design

The reason is that I am about to start work on a new book, and need time to focus on stitching the projects for it.  This is one of the most exciting book commissions that I have been asked to do and I now have permission to share some of the details with you.

Recent events have meant all my future books will be published with Search Press UK.  Search Press is the leading supplier of art and craft books in the UK and for many years has been one of the prominent distributors of my books worldwide.  My contract with Search Press promises new and progressive opportunities as well as the likelihood of more titles being translated into other languages.

ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS KEW

My first commission from Search Press was to compile a book on Botanical flowers in Needlepainting, for The Royal Botanic Gardens Kew.   I am sure most of you are familiar with this renowned institution, the world leading botanic gardens within a short distance of Central London, you can read all about it here.

Kew’s Library

With a collection of more than 200,000 botanical prints and drawings there is a feast of material to choose from and I am more than thrilled to have the opportunity to stitch and work on such beautiful subjects.  It is a project book that is due for delivery in 2019 and released 2020,  and that is all I am able to share with you right now!

NEW HANDBOOK

The Needlepainting & Whitework Handbook will be out of stock for a while as we work on a new updated version.  My methods continue to evolve and progress and some products/embroidery items have changed or are discontinued, so it is time to share these updates and make needed changes.

The Updated version will be a larger, flat copy which fits securely inside the shipping envelopes, therefore preventing bending or damage en route to its destination.  The new format will simply be called THE HANDBOOK and will be available both in print and as an ebook in the digital store.  It will be easier to follow and refer to whilst stitching and there are several updates including:

  • Expanded information on Long & Short Stitch
  • Updated stitch diagrams and guides
  • Updated and expanded information on materials, including iron on transfers and freezer paper printing
  • More solutions, tips and hints.
  • Surface Embroidery category

If you have any questions at all please feel free to email me or place a comment on this Post. Till next time, wherever you are in the world, keep smiling and happy stitching!

Trish

    1. Hi Gail. I understand that it will be additional purchase for those who have already purchased the book, so yes I am considering the best way to do this. Either I will print an addendum or offer previous customers a discount on the new version. Trish

  5. What good news! Just recently I’ve developed an interest in botanical drawing; I can’t wait for your new book . . . and new handbook which has been on my wish list for awhile; it seems that it was a good idea to hold off buying it (although holding off was a test of my self restraint)!
I’m always happy to hear of your accomplishments, Trish.

  6. Good luck with the new book, sounds very promising! Love floral designs!

  13. Good Morning, Trish!! Please change your name from Word Press to TRISHBURR Embroidery. I cancelled Word Press several times because name looks like spam mail. I do believe you will have more followers when embroidery people like me see your name. Thank ;you, Pat Jay/San Antonio Tx.

  14. Looking forward to your new book. It sounds exciting and the subject matter delightful. I’m sure you will more than do it justice. Good Luck!
