Dear Dad

Hello everyone

It is with sadness this week that I let you know that my dear Dad passed away on Tuesday night the 17th March, aged 84 years, after a long struggle for the last two years. It is a great comfort to me that during this time we were able to care for him in his own home amongst family and familiar surroundings. I am relieved that his suffering is at last over and he is now in a peaceful, happy place with those who have gone before him.

My Dad’s presence on this earth will be remembered by many for his achievements in the farming industry in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) his thoughtful, kind and gentle nature and above all his wonderful sense of humour. His beautiful qualities will remain with us forever and have touched the lives of so many. We received a letter yesterday from a farming neighbour who said” What he did in this life will never be repeated on this continent”.

My Dad has a very special place in my heart, he was someone I could always turn to no matter what the circumstances. I am left with many happy memories of my childhood on the farm and was fortunate to have the time to tell him how much I loved him, to thank him for everything and say goodbye before he passed.

I will be closing the shop for a while to be with my family during this difficult time, but the Digital patterns will still be available for sale.

This is the perfect time to take up your embroidery and focus on things more bright and beautiful. Till next time wherever you are in the world, keep smiling and happy stitching.

Trish, just letting you know that you’re not alone. I too lost my father on New Years Eve. At least he was 95 and had enjoyed the life he wanted, totally independently until May last year when he contracted sepsis – a terrible disease, but one he fought and ‘won’ although he never walked again and became slightly confused. It is a huge loss but one that has left wonderful memories to smile at and share.
I will be thinking of you.
