Happy New Year!

Hello everyone and a happy belated 2022! I hope you all had a wonderful Festive season and that 2022 has been kind to you so far? It has been a very busy few weeks spent with my daughters from UK over the Christmas period and then settling my youngest daughter into Film College. I am now an empty nester, for the first time in 35 years. I am not getting old, I am getting better! (I had my children very young)

2021 was spent working on a new book, which will be released later this year. I cant divulge too much at this stage but it is on Nature and I think you will love it! This year is all about creating new patterns, and giving back in the form of sharing my knowledge. Many of you have worked through my books, done the online tutorials, classes and watched the videos on Youtube but still have little concerns that you would like addressed, so I would like to help with these. I have given a lot of thought on how best to do this and believe the best way would be to have an Embroidery Q&A.

I am not too sure how I am going to approach this yet, still working out the logistics of including some visual props, or perhaps having a monthly Podcast whereby I can answer your questions in detail, more on this later. In meantime here is how to submit your questions:

Questions

Your question can be anything to do with Needlepainting or Whitework Embroidery. For example if you are having a problem with long and short stitch, or any other stitches. It could also be to do with fabrics, threads, hoops, problems with transferring the outline, puckering, washing, mounting etc. All questions are welcome, but please only send one question per person.

Each month I will choose a theme and address questions based on that theme. So although your question will not be personally answered (because that would take a lifetime) it will be addressed within that month’s theme.

Please note that only questions from Blog subscribers can be accepted for submission, so if you are not already subscribed please do so by adding your email address to the home page here. The first Q&A will be at the end of March 2022.

How to submit your question

  1. Send an email to trishburr5@gmail.com
  2. In the Message Subject type the word Question. It is essential that you type it exactly as shown below so that it reaches me.
  3. Type your question as briefly as possible, you can attach a picture of your work as a jpeg if you want, and send the email.

New Patterns

I have some gorgeous PDF patterns in the pipe line this year – working on them as fast as I can. The first is already in the shop and available for purchase.

Antique Tulip & Moth

The Antique Tulip & Moth is a fine Needlepainting pattern which was created for a workshop that did not transpire due to Covid restrictions in 2021, so here it is. It is a reproduction of a beautiful botanical painting: “Baquet Rigaux Optimus”  by Georg Dionysius Ehret 1757.  The embroidery is stitched in gorgeous antiques shades of DMC stranded cotton which depict the slightly faded original painting.

There is of course an iron on transfer for this pattern which can be purchased here. On a side note, some of the iron on transfer packs in the shop are out of stock but will be available shortly.

I tea dyed my white linen fabric for this design and it worked beautifully, instructions for doing this are included with the pattern and in DISCOVER & LEARN.

Cosmo Thread Packs

We have finally received more stock of the Cosmo threads from Japan and they will be packed up and ready for purchase in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out.

Till next time, wherever you are in the world, keep smiling and happy stitching.
