Smile & The World Will Smile With You

Hello everyone

Last night I had a rare opportunity to have a look at some of my book reviews on Amazon – I don’t read them often but thought perhaps it was time I did as if there is something nasty I need to rectify it or find ways to improve on an area in future books.  I have received many favourable emails about the Colour Confidence Book but was surprised and delighted to find that in actual fact the book NEEDLE PAINTING EMBROIDERY:  FRESH IDEAS FOR BEGINNERS had the most wonderful reviews on both Amazon.com and also Amazon.uk.

I was so touched and sat with a lump in my throat reading review after review and wishing I could reply to the people who had posted them to say thank you.  Unfortunately I am not able to do that as the privacy of the reviewers is protected and rightly so, but if any of you are reading this THANK YOU!  You really have no idea how much it means and I am so glad that the book has helped even in some small way to overcome fears of needle painting and inspire you to progress with this technique.

Today I had the task of supervising the removal van while it transported furniture from my house in SOmerset West to my daughter’s flat in Cape Town about 45 mins away.  My husband was going to take care of it but had to go away on business and as I have a terrible sense of direction and don’t really know my way around Cape Town I was nervously anticipating all sorts of things going wrong.  My Mum accompanied me and tried to read the map while I took us off on the wrong route occassionally but to my great relief the job was  completed and we found ourselves with some time to spare so decided to treat ourselves to a nice lunch at the V&A Waterfront.  I don’t get out of the office much so it really was very special – we sat at a table that looked directly onto Table Mountain and I could not help but feel a warm sense of gratitude for those Amazon reviews and the wonderful people I have met and communicated with since I started my career as an embroidery designer.  I really love my job!!  Whilst there I bought this postcard to share with you and give you a laugh, but also to remind us that no matter how difficult life can be if you smile the whole world will smile with you.

I have lots of ideas and look forward to sharing them with you in 2013, meanwhile, wherever you are in the world this comes from me in South Africa to you, wishing you all the very best for the Festive Season.  Trish
