Hello everyone.
Hope you are doing well? I know we say this every year but can’t believe Christmas is nearly upon us!
This week I would like to share with you some exciting news – my new book is available for Pre-order, it will be released in February 2025. You may want to put it on your Christmas wish list or you may want to ensure that you get a first edition when it is released? It is available on Amazon, Search Press and all good online booksellers – if you do a little search on the internet it should come up.

The title of the book is An Introduction to Whitework Embroidery With Colour and you will be pleased to see that it is in paperback format. As the title indicates it is all about the art of traditional French Whitework with a modern twist – the addition of colour.

I believe this beginner book is a much-needed addition to my portfolio of books as this style of embroidery is rapidly gaining in popularity and there are many of you who would like to try it but don’t have the courage to take the first step. Although these projects are aimed at the beginner, they will also be helpful to those who have some previous experience and would like access to some fresh designs. Whitework embroidery with colour includes the use of long and short stitch, so if you want to learn Thread painting this book will also help you to learn the technique.

When I discussed this title with my editor, I mentioned that because beginner projects are so simple, they could tend to be a bit boring. I wanted to design projects that inspired the reader to pick up needle and thread but at the same time be simple enough for the beginner to tackle. I had no difficulty in finding suitable material as there is so much artwork to inspire us, but the challenge was to interpret this into compositions that could be stitched in a simple way.

By carefully playing around with the arrangement and considering how each part of the design was going to be stitched, I found I could achieve this, and quite honestly it has been one of my favorite books to work on, the designs are fresh, colorful, and uplifting and I very much hope you love them as much as I do.

Till next time, wherever you are in the world, keep smiling and happy stitching.
Trish
