Hope you are well and keeping busy! Here is project three for the mini journal, some sweet wildflowers with a quote. You are welcome to use your own quote and of course your own colours. You can download the pattern here.
HOW TO START STITCHING YOUR PAGES
There has been some confusion as to how to stitch and assemble your pages for your mini journal, so I am going to address this here. If you have just joined us you can find the instructions for your mini journal here. I am stitching along with you so I cannot show you the completed journal at this stage but it will all come together beautifully in the end!
- Cut out your fabric.
The first thing you need to do is cut out a piece of fabric large enough to trace 2 x facing pages for your journal (as explained in the instructions) and then trace/transfer your outline on to each page. It is a good idea to trace the stitching lines as well so that when it comes to sewing up the pages they are all uniform and you have a guide to sew along. It is best to use a ruler and pencil for these – This is all provided in your instructions.
2. Mount in a hoop
The second thing you need to do is mount one page and design in to a hoop and stitch the design. When the embroidery is complete you can remove it from the hoop and stitch the design on the other page. Now you will have one double page (facing pages) complete. You can put store these somewhere for now and move on to the next page. Each week I give you the project for one of the facing pages. (hint you can roll up the extra fabric for the other page and tack it in place to keep it out the way whilst stitching)
3. Sew up pages
Once all the embroidery is done, you will have completed a total of 6 facing pages, we will assemble them. Each page will go back to back with vilene/interfacing in between as explained in your instructions. You will sew around the edges and turn inside out.
4. Assemble pages
You will now have 3 (double) pages with embroidery on both sides. These will be assembled in order of the designs and then you will sew done the centre of all the pages and through the cover. I will address this once all the embroidery is done so for now all you need to do is concentrate on stitching each project.

I’m new to this type of embroidery – do you split stitch around all the flowers/leaves to outline them in all 3 projects?

Hello Trish I started something similar last year with a friend, our purpose was a needlebook but our embroidery became our favourite work pieces too good to just use as a needlebook, I am going to add some of these designs, as well as some of your miniature designs from your new book due in July.
