Merry Christmas

Hello everyone

Online Shop Closure

Its that time of year again and I will be closing for the Christmas season on 15th December – 6th January 2025. There are worldwide shipping delays at this time of year, so please place your orders as soon as possible if you would like them delivered in time. Whitework or Needlepainting PDF patterns can be downloaded at any time before shut down.

Summary of 2024

In 2024 I decided to step back from Social media slightly in order to focus more on my “embroidery”. I wanted to develop my skills and research more effective means of providing simple and clear instructions for future embroidery patterns. When doing this I try to keep in mind that it should be a calm, peaceful experience for you, not frustrating!

In my first book Redoute’s Finest Flowers in Embroidery published in 2001 I stated in the introduction: ” Being a self -taught embroiderer, when I began I would often sit for hours, tearing my hair out with frustration, trying to follow the instructions in a pattern. Just as a good recipe for chocolate chip cookies would be a disaster if one vital ingredient were left out, so also does this apply to an embroidery design.” I have not forgotten my promise to you all those years ago.

Here are a few of the new designs from 2024.

Masterclasses

Many of you had requested instructions on more specific embroidery subjects, such as How to stitch a Portrait, animal, bird, flower, insect etc. You may like to stitch a portrait of a family member or friend or a portrait of your pet and don’t know where to begin. So this year I began work on a series of HOW TO STITCH IN NEEDLEPAINTING, masterclasses in PDF format, which will be released in the next few months. I am excited to share with you that January 2025 will see the launch of some of these new masterclasses, so keep a look out and please do let me know what you think or if there is any specific subject you would like to see included in these masterclasses.

New Book

This year also saw me working on a new beginner book which is available for pre-order and will be released in February 2025: An Introduction to Whitework Embroidery with Colour. It is available from most good online booksellers.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyal support and patronage in 2024 and to wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year! Till next time wherever you are in the world, keep smiling and happy stitching.

Trish

  3. Happy Holidays Trish ~ I am looking forward to your new book in Feb. I am enjoying doing some Thread painting every day, it is part of my mental health routine. Thank you for so many great patterns

  4. Trish, I doubt you recall even my name, but you contacted me about starting the EGA Master Craftsman Silk and Metal program I was chairman of at the time. You were trying to decide a path to follow. I gave you some options and look where it has taken you. I have been following you all these years, even referring your e-mails to another who may be interested in your work. I no longer collect your books, but have your earlier ones. I left EGA in 2002 and continue to teach Japanese embroidery, which I began in 1984. Like you, I am blessed with students who continue to attend classes these many years despite my moving to a different location; a more distant retirement area. Keep up the good work. Like you, I continue to embroider myself and LEARN- passing on more knowledge to others. And I love new challenges. Wishing you a wonderful future. It is to wonderful to enjoy what we are doing. Thanks for all YOU do. Happy Holidays.

I’ve been thinking of taking on my parents’ portraits & I can’t think of a better person I’d like to learn under! I’ve recommended your patterns to many wanting to learn needle painting exactly b/c of the clarity of your instructions. Thank you for teaching us this beautiful art!
