In an effort to help you reduce unexpected customs duties and taxes when you receive your order I would like to address the introduction of new customs tariffs and duties that have been implemented this year globally.
What are Customs Tariffs?
Tariffs are taxes and duties on imported goods.
Typically, the charge is a percentage of a good’s value.
For example, a 10% tariff on a $10 product would mean a $1 tax on top – taking the total cost to $11.
The tax and duty is paid to the government by companies bringing in the foreign products.
The Courier Company (i.e. Fedex) collects the taxes and duties on behalf of the government in your country before delivering your package to your door.
Depending on the value of the order, you may have to pay tariffs, duties and taxes when your package arrives in the country.
Ways to reduce tariffs?
When you place an order our system generates an invoice which is shipped along with your package. This invoice is what is used for the Customs Importation in your country to determine the amount of duties and taxes you will pay.
It will help a lot if you place two separate orders for both PDF downloads and physical items. PDF Patterns are for download only and do not need to be shipped, whereas physical items include fabric and iron on transfers or any item which needs to be shipped to your door.
This means that only the invoice for physical items will be shipped with your package. If PDF items are included in the order you will be charged duties on the total value of both Physical & PDF items. Unfortunately, there is no way we can avoid this.

Are there any countries which do not apply these tariffs? If so, will your shipping calculator work this out automatically?

A couple of years ago I ordered an item that was delivered by FedEx and they added an administrative charge for collecting the duties and taxes. This charge was around 14.00 for an 80.00 CAD item. Just thought I should mention this.
